Texarkana Museums System To Benefit From ‘Brand Our Brew’ Contest

Pecan Point Gastropub & Brewery and the Texarkana Museums System are hosting a Brand Our Brew party to name a new beer created to benefit the museum system.

The beer will be a porter with hints of pecan, maple and molasses.

A party will be hosted by TMS at Pecan Point on July 21 to celebrate the launch of the new brew and to announce the winner of the Brand Our Brew contest. A limited edition pint glass featuring the winning beer name will be unveiled at the event.

The winning name will be chosen from community suggestions by judges from TMS and Pecan Point. The winner will receive a free one-year family membership to TMS, a $50 gift card from Pecan Point and a set of limited edition pint glasses.

"We are excited to see Pecan Point's commitment to the Texarkana Museums System, an integral part of the downtown Arts & Historic District,” says Velvet Cool, TMS Board President. “We continually serve as stewards to the preservation of the history of this region. We are even more excited to work with Pecan Point to showcase how the past never truly becomes outdated and can be integrated with current events and interests,” she said.

TMS is excited to be introducing new exhibits like the Cabinet of Curiosity, which just opened at the Museum of Regional History. Museumgoers can also enjoy the tours at the Ace of Clubs House, and kids especially will love the Smithsonian Traveling Exhibit at Discovery Place Children's Museum.

To enter the Brand Our Brew! competition, submit your idea for a regionally inspired beer name on TMS’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/TexarkanaMuseums. All entries must be submitted by Sunday, June 28. The contest is free to enter.

The Museums System will receive all the proceeds from the sale of the beer once the contest is complete along with all sales of the glasses. All proceeds will go toward the general operation fund of the TMS.
