Officers with the Hooks Police Department were called to an address in the 200 block of Grant Street just before midnight Saturday August 31 for a domestic disturbance call. There they found the victim lying on the ground and arrested her alleged killer.

The victim, 21-year-old Whitney Nicole Hanes, was found lying motionless and bloody lying on the ground. Police arrested 21-year-old Justin Donnell Wright at the scene and booked him into the Bi-State Justice Center in Texarkana charged with murder. The body of the victim was sent for an autopsy. The cause of death has not been released.

According to an article at BowieCountyNow.com reports that a candlelight vigil for the young mother of three will take place in the field behind Hooks Elementary tonight at 9 p,m, tonight (9/1).
