The Texas High Tigers have crowned their Miss Texas High School 2016.

During the annual crowning of Tiger beauties, Leighton Weber was chosen as the 2016 Miss Texas High School.

She is a junior and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Weber. Leighton serves as junior lieutenant for the Texas Highsteppers where she was named an All-American and received the Best New Girl Award, Highest GPA Award and Gussie Nell Davis Award.

She is a student in the Ross Perot STEM Academy and member of National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society and Quill & Scroll International Honor Society for High School Journalists. Leighton is actively involved in Student Council, Rosebud Junior Garden Club, Physics Club and Tiger yearbook.

Leighton is a graduate of Leadership Texarkana’s Today’s Youth Tomorrow’s Leaders, member of Hardy Memorial Methodist Church and volunteers for Komen Texarkana Race for the Cure, Williams Memorial United Methodist Church Community Cafe, Court Appointed Special Advocates Color Run and United Methodist ARMY. She is a dance student attending All Stars Dance Center.

First Runner-up: Abigail Hill, daughter of Dena and Mike Hill

Second Runner-up and Talent Award Winner: Allie Beth Hatfield, daughter of Gail and Robbie Hatfield

Third Runner-up:  Madison Maynard, daughter of Sharon and Keith Maynard

“Jeanie Copeland” Miss Congeniality Award: Jayda Holmes
