Hummus Republic Is Now Open in Temple, Bringing Major Cava Energy
I’ll talk about how CAVA had to make its way to Bell County! If you’re not familiar, CAVA is a Mediterranean fast-casual restaurant chain, somewhat like Chipotle, but with Mediterranean food. It’s super popular and known for delicious, savory pita chips, pickled items, unique spices, flavorful dressings, and just really good food.

Unfortunately, for those of us who love CAVA here in Bell County, you might have to take a trip to either Waco or Austin to get your fix. Recently, I visited a restaurant that has only been open for about two weeks called Hummus Republic in Temple, and let me just tell you, I was truly impressed.
What's the Difference Between CAVA and Hummus Republic?
Hummus Republic is somewhat similar to Chipotle in the way you build your meal piece by piece. However, there were some differences I noticed. For starters, there weren’t as many pickled vegetables, but there were plenty of spicy vegetables, which is something CAVA doesn’t necessarily offer in the same way. The different spices, meats, and toppings also created a flavor profile that was noticeably different between the two.

Nonetheless, it was super delicious. I enjoyed a bowl from Hummus Republic today, and I refuse to tell a lie about food. I feel like it’s my duty, especially as a journalist and what I like to call a self-proclaimed foodie connoisseur, to give you the truth and my honest opinion.
Try It For Yourself Central Texas
So, is Hummus Republic like CAVA? Yes, in some ways. But also, no. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give Hummus Republic a fair 7. The food was delicious, and if I’m not willing to leave the Bell County area, Hummus Republic could definitely be a good substitute for CAVA. Personally, I do enjoy more pickled items, and that’s one of the reasons CAVA would remain my number one. But you might enjoy Hummus Republic even more! So, if you’re in the Temple area, give it a try, Central Texas and form your own opinion. After all, that’s what food is all about: finding what you love and making it your own
