These Texas Truck Stops Are Being Called ‘Do Not Stop’ Locations

If you've traveled across the great state of Texas, you know that it‘s a long journey. Most long trips across the Lone Star State mean that you will be stopping a few times to move your legs and you’ll probably have to go to the bathroom. But there are some truck stops in Texas that you will want to avoid.

Not Every Stop Is Like Buc-ee’s

This is helpful information if you’re planning on driving long distances in Texas. There isn’t always a Buc-ee’s where you stop, well, at least not yet. Keep your fingers crossed for more locations selling beaver nuggets.

Where This “Do Not Stop” List Came From

The original post, titled ‘Do Not Stop: A List of Truck Stops to Avoid if You Have a High-Value Load,’ comes from Boing Boing. While this is certainly more of a guideline for long-haul truck drivers, I don't want to stop at places where sketchy things are regularly known to happen.

What Drivers Are Saying About These Locations

Here is what a few Reddit commenters had to say about the list:

"It's for theft (organized theft) of High-Value Loads, like a trailer full of cigarette cartons," one explained. "Sometimes the theft starts with a corrupt employee at the weigh stations who ask 'what's in the load.' Smart drivers tell them it's 'sealed,' or 'not your concern' if they feel froggy."

Of the locations I’ve visited on the list, I can definitely see why they are listed. Mostly though this list is for high-value loads where organized crime carries out stings. It’s not for someone breaking into your truck to steal a tablet or personal item.. It’s for people stealing a truckload of cigarettes or similar items.

There is no way I am going to stop at any location that is known for any type of crime. It’s probably best to avoid these specific truck stops in Texas.
