Guilty Plea in Elaine, AR Shooting

Authorities say 23-year-old Treyton Russell of Wabash entered a guilty plea Monday, March 2, 2026, in connection with the shooting in Elaine, Arkansas.

Russell pleaded guilty to Second-Degree Murder and First-Degree Battery as part of a negotiated plea agreement. A judge sentenced him to 15 years on the murder charge and 15 years on the battery charge, with the sentences ordered to run concurrently in the Arkansas Department of Corrections.

2023 Apartment Shooting

The charges stem from an April 2023 shooting at an apartment on Oak Street in Elaine. Investigators said Parneisha Slater, 30, who was about 25 weeks pregnant, and Sandy Williams, 38, were shot multiple times through a window of the apartment.

Both women were airlifted to Regional One Health Medical Center for treatment. A child who was inside the apartment at the time was not injured.

Slater’s unborn daughter, Paisley, did not survive the injuries caused by the gunfire. Authorities said the death of the unborn child led to the second-degree murder charge filed against Russell.

Investigation and Arrest

The Phillips County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division during the investigation.

Russell was arrested at his home in Wabash on April 9, 2023, and was initially charged with two counts of First-Degree Battery before additional charges were later filed.
