The World Famous Budweiser Clydesdales Returning to Texarkana
Eagle Distributing of Texarkana the area's wholesaler of Anheuser-Busch products, is proud to be bringing in the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales to Texarkana November 1-4, 2023 for a festive fall event with rising country artist Priscilla Block in the Front Street Plaza entertainment district downtown.
It's been a while since the Budweiser Clydesdales were in Texarkana, the last time was in 2015 at Spring Lake Park to honor Tim O'Neal, president and managing partner of Eagle Distributing along with his crew for the Big Jake Award that earned them the title of Anheuser-Busch Ambassador.
The 20-pound statue of a Clydesdale is given to the distributor with the highest achievement level for an Anheuser-Busch wholesaler. Quite an accomplishment considering there have been only 16 of 600 nationwide wholesalers that have reached that level of success.
The world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales represent Anheuser-Busch's heritage and tradition in fact, there's a huge painted mural on the side of the Crossties building downtown painted by acclaimed Texas artist David Freeman depicts these beautiful majestic horses pulling its trademark big red hitchwagon.
Besides the last visit in 2015, the first time the Clydesdales visited Texarkana was in 1952 when they were trotted down the streets of downtown. So, it's only fitting that they would make a return for the 90th Anniversary celebration of the Budweiser Clydesdales this year.
The Budweiser Clydesdales began their storied historical run on April 7, 1933, in St. Louis, Missouri during the Prohibition era. Another trademark of the Clydesdales is the Dalmatian dog that rides along on the wagon next to the driver.
They became known as coach dogs because of their speed and endurance they were able to run between the wheels of coaches or carriages and made great companions to the horses. The Clydesdales were bred for farming in the nid-1800s in Scotland because they were powerful horses that could pull a one-ton load at five miles per hour. Today, the horses are used for breeding and mainly show horses at special events all across the country.
The public will have a chance to see these majestic horses up close and personal and grab a photo in an outside fenced area adjacent to the concert area. There is no cost to see the Budweiser Clydesdales however, you will need a ticket to see the Priscilla Block concert on November 3.
