A Press Release was issued on Tuesday morning from Miller County Sheriff Wayne Easley with more complete details of the incident:

At approximately 10:06 am on Monday, April 15, 2024, Sgt. Josh Pendergrass observed a black and white motorcycle speeding through a residential neighborhood in Texarkana, Arkansas. Sgt. Pendergrass attempted to make a traffic stop on the motorcycle and at that time, the rider of the bike began to speed up to flee from our deputy. Sgt. Pendergrass then radioed to dispatch he needed assistance from officers in the area. In an attempt to make a left turn, the driver of the motorcycle lost control of the bike and it flipped twice on Division Street. Sgt. Pendergrass exited his patrol unit and approached the suspect and placed him in hand restraints. The suspect then admitted to Sgt. Pendergrass that his backpack contained narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

Two officers, Lt. Nick Ontiveros and Officer Dylan McCrary were in route to assist Sgt Pendergrass when he went silent on the radio. Both officers knew Sgt. Pendergrass was in pursuit and could potentially be in distress due to the radio silence. Lt. Ontiveros and Officer McCrary's vehicles collided at the intersection of Division and East Street. Both officers sustained multiple injuries including lacerations, bruised lungs, a broken sternum, injuries to wrists, ankles, hands, and head.

Both officers are in good spirits and resting. We wish them a speedy recovery and will continue to pray for them and their families. Officer McCrary is the husband of one of our Deputies.

A third vehicle was involved in the accident and the driver is also recovering from their injuries. We wish them a speedy recovery and send prayers their way.

The rider of the bike, Anthony Gardner was checked out by EMS and hospital staff and then was booked into Miller County Detention Center on Fleeing by Vehicle (Felony), Possession of a Controlled Substance w/Intent SCH II Meth O/2g U/10g (Felony), Possession of Controlled Substance w/Intent SCH IV U/200g (Felony), Possession of a Controlled Substance w/Intent SCH VI U/14g (Felony), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Felony), Arkansas Board of Parole Warrant, and a Lafayette County Warrant.

The Arkansas State Police are investigating the accident as well.
