TC Unveils Sleek Plans for the Truman Arnold Student Center
The Truman Arnold Student Center at Texarkana College is getting an upgrade, according to a recent progress report.
Plans Underway for Truman Arnold Student Center Upgrades at Texarkana College
Trusteed received the proposed updates to the 55,000-square-foot facility at the heart of the TC campus. Built in 1993, the Truman Arnold Student Center houses the TC Bookstore, TC Police Department, Bistro café, large event rooms, and instructional kitchens and classrooms for the Culinary Arts program.
“We plan to maintain the integrity of the building by keeping the architectural elements that are symbolic of the space, such as the grand staircase that leads to the iconic upstairs Great Room and Patman VIP Room, where so many community and campus events take place,” said Brandon Washington, Vice President of Campus Operations.
According to a press release, the plan will preserve the building’s architectural character while incorporating a sleek modern design to create a more student-centered, friendly environment.
The interiors will be modernized, creating a more laid-back, relaxed living room feel in the downstairs area where students can gather between classes, meet up with friends, and grab something to eat from the Bistro.
Culinary Arts Program Stands to Benefit from New Kitchen Equipment
The Culinary Arts program will also benefit from the upgrade with industry-standard kitchen equipment. Plans to install new ovens, ranges, and other equipment in line with modern industrial kitchens, backed by local restaurant and hospitality professionals.

With these additions, on-the-job training will be available at the Bistro with expanded breakfast and lunch menus to accommodate students on campus during the week. Enhancements will also include a new coffee service area offering students and staff additional dining and gathering options..
Plans also include a newly expanded Career and Transfer Center to help students connect with potential employers and transfer institutions.
