The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department (TAPD) arrested a 42-year-old man after a shot was fired through the front door of Whiskey River Bar and Grill early Saturday morning.

Officers were called to the business at 310 East 49th Street in Texarkana, Arkansas, around 2:55 AM on August 29 for a disturbance. While officers were responding, the call was upgraded to a report of shots fired.

Police said a man had reportedly pulled a handgun and fired a round through the glass doors of the business.

When officers arrived, they found Delton Smith, 42, of the Texarkana, Arkansas area, near the front entrance with a firearm in his hand. Officers ordered Smith to drop the weapon, and he complied. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Police Say Suspect Had Been Removed From Business

Investigators learned Smith had previously been removed from the business by security personnel.

According to police, Smith remained outside after the doors were locked and became upset, kicking the front doors. He then reportedly went to a nearby vehicle, retrieved a handgun, and returned to the entrance.

Police said Smith fired one round through the glass door and into the occupied business.

Several people were still inside when the shot was fired. Fortunately, no one was struck, and no injuries were reported.

Smith Charged With Terroristic Act

Officers found damage to the glass doors, including a bullet hole that was consistent with the information gathered during the investigation.

Smith was arrested and charged with Terroristic Act.

The investigation remains ongoing.

All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
