Update on Texarkana Police Investigating Shooting on Vernal Street
Texarkana Arkansas police are investigating a shooting that left a man critically injured on Sunday afternoon. Officers responded to multiple 911 calls about gunfire near the intersection of Vernal and Bramble streets around 2:05 PM on Sunday, November 17.
Upon arrival, Texarkana Arkansas Police Department officers found numerous spent shell casings at the scene and secured the area to preserve evidence.
Shortly after, Texarkana Texas Police Department officers informed Arkansas officers that 26-year-old Tracy Davis had arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the head. Investigators believe Davis was injured during the shooting on Vernal Street. Davis remains hospitalized and reported in critical condition.
Detectives determined that a group of suspects drove to Vernal Street and began shooting into a residence. During the exchange of gunfire, Davis was reportedly struck by a round fired by one of his accomplices. The suspects then fled the scene and took Davis to the hospital.
Investigators later identified 21-year-old Timothy Demery as the driver of the suspect vehicle. Demery has been arrested and charged with 66 counts of Terroristic Acts, Discharging a Firearm from a Vehicle, and Tampering with Evidence.
No additional suspects have been identified at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
