Texarkana get ready there is a new restaurant Highway 82 EATS opening on Wednesday, October 11, on Highway 82 East in the former location of The Dugout. And no, that's not a typo that's the actual name.

The catchy name of the restaurant was conjured up by Paul Kennedy who is also the owner of Reggies Burgers on State Line. Highway 82 Eats will be serving an extensive variety of southern comfort food from seafood, burgers, and more.

"We saw a need for the east side of town that already had a loyal customer base from the former restaurant and when the opportunity presented itself we jumped at the chance to continue to serve not only this community but the entire Texarkana community," said Paul Kennedy, owner Highw 82 Eats.

The restaurant has a roadside diner feel with a festive atmosphere throughout that features several Texarkana street and road signs that add to the pleasant decor of the interior of the building.

From the feedback they have received they plan on serving some favorites from "The Dugout" but expanding their own menu. One of the things they are most excited about is the frog legs and crab legs with of course, the traditional USDA Farm-Raised catfish, fried shrimp, grilled or boiled shrimp, and combo platters with all the fixin's like home-cut fries, pinto beans, coleslaw, hushpuppies, and sauces.

Extras

Highway 82 Eats also has a variety of sandwiches to choose from like the BLT, chicken sandwich grilled or fried, fish or shrimp boy, patty melt, and even a cutlet sandwich that I can't wait to try.

Specialty Burgers

You can't go wrong with their signature burgers and fries where you build your own or choose several different ones from the specialty burgers menu. All burgers are certified 100% Angus Beef and served with home-cut fries.
