Arkansas’ Last Historic Public Ferry is a Hidden Gem
When traveling through Arkansas I am always looking for a hidden gem that people didn't know much about or something unique.
The last public ferry known as the historic Peel Ferry operates on a section of Bull Shoals Lake in the northwest part of Arkansas. This ferry has been transporting people since 1968 from the Arkansas banks across the lake to the state of Missouri.
The ferry gets its name from the town of Peel, Arkansas and the barge runs daily from 7 AM to 6 PM. The ride lasts about 20 minutes on its 2-mile journey carrying passengers, cars, motorcycles, and small trucks across the lake from Arkansas to Missouri or vice versa.
If a person just wanted to take the ferry back and forth from Arkansas to Missouri the total time would be around 40 minutes round-trip.
Free Ferry Ride
The best part about the Peel Ferry it's FREE to ride and the scenery is beautiful. So, if you're looking for something fun to do and you're in the area take a ride, it's worth it and a nice experience too.
The Peel Ferry is located on Arkansas Highway 125 just north of Peel. See how to get there via a scenic drive.
