
Arkansas State Police Investigating Fatal Shooting Near Malvern
Arkansas State Police (ASP) are investigating a fatal shooting that happened Monday evening near Malvern, Arkansas at the request of the Hot Spring County Sheriff’s Office.
Shooting Called In From Bayne Road
Hot Spring County deputies were called to the 300 block of Bayne Road around 7 PM on Monday, September 28, after receiving a report of a shooting.
According to witnesses, 70-year-old Linden Torchia was helping his 31-year-old son, Michael Torchia, jump-start a vehicle when the two became involved in a verbal and physical confrontation.

Investigators say Michael Torchia struck the window of his father’s vehicle with jumper cables and an unidentified metal object before the confrontation became physical.
During the altercation, Linden Torchia fired a weapon, striking his son in the chest.
The Hot Spring County Coroner pronounced Michael Torchia dead at the scene. His body was taken to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory, where an official cause and manner of death will be determined.
No Arrest Made
At the time of this release, no arrest had been made in connection with the shooting.
ASP Criminal Investigation Division Special Agents will continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Once the investigation is complete, the case will be submitted to the Hot Spring County Prosecuting Attorney for review.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information has been released. As with any ongoing investigation, the allegations and circumstances remain subject to further review.
