New Internship Bridges A&M-Texarkana Students to Forensic Genealogy
Texas A&M University-Texarkana’s Criminal Justice program is proud to announce it has been officially approved as an internship partner with Moxxy Forensic Investigations (Moxxy). This is a Texas-based organization known for its compassionate, victim-centered work in Investigative Genetic Genealogy. Moxxy helps law enforcement agencies identify human remains and solve long-unsolved violent crimes with determination and integrity.
A Hands-On Learning Opportunity
Through this new partnership, A&M-Texarkana criminal justice students will have the chance to apply for Moxxy’s semester-long internship, which, according to a press release, will give them a rare, hands-on experience in forensic investigation. Interns will work alongside professionals in the field, contributing to real-world cases while learning skills in research, case review, and investigative genealogy.
Katie Thomas, Moxxy co-founder and Texas A&M-Texarkana graduate, said in a press release,
This is a full-circle moment for me - to return to my roots and partner with my alma mater. Our internship program gives students hands-on experience while fostering the compassion and curiosity that drive this work. I’m proud to help the next generation begin their journey in a field that truly makes a difference.

Bridging the Classroom and the Field
Dr. Tom Jordan, A&M-Texarkana Associate Professor and Internship Director for Criminal Justice, said internships like this help "bridge" students from the classroom to the field. He also said that this partnership allows the students to learn cutting-edge techniques that will be vital in solving missing person and criminal cases.
