Early Morning Incident With Armed Suspect at Texarkana Airport
Earlier this morning (February 4) around 7:35 AM. Texarkana police responded to a 911 call about a disturbance at Signature Aviation at 601 Airport Dr. The caller stated that there was a male suspect inside the business carrying a rifle and a handgun.
According to the Texarkana Arkansas Police press release, witnesses said the suspect allegedly walked up to the front counter, showed his weapons, and started demanding a plane.
One witness managed to get away and warn others, and shortly after, the suspect left the building. This is when a quick-thinking local pilot, who works for a private business, grabbed his firearm from his truck and confronted the suspect. the pilot ordered the suspect to the ground. The suspect complied, was disarmed, and stayed down until TAPD officers arrived and took him into custody.

Turns out, the alleged suspect is a juvenile. He was arrested for Aggravated Assault, Attempted Aggravated Robbery, and Terroristic Threatening 1st Degree, then transferred to a juvenile detention center in Arkansas.
The Texarkana Arkansas Police Department is giving major credit to the brave pilot who stepped in and his ability to resolve this incident quickly and peacefully. If it weren't for his bravery the outcome could have been much worse.
