
One Dead, Two Injured in Arkansas Shooting Under Investigation
One Dead, Two Hurt in Cotton Plant, Arkansas Shooting
A deadly shooting in eastern Arkansas over the weekend has left one person dead and two others injured.
The Woodruff County Sheriff's Office has asked the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division to investigate the shooting, which happened Saturday, Aug. 1, in the 300 block of Susie Avenue in Cotton Plant, Arkansas.
Deputies found two people suffering from gunshot wounds when they arrived at the scene.
Twenty-year-old Omari Chapple of Woodruff County was taken by ambulance to Unity Health–White County Medical Center in Searcy, where he later died from his injuries.
Forty-year-old Talisha Chapple, also of Woodruff County, was airlifted to Regional One Health in Memphis. She is listed in stable condition.
Investigators later learned that a third victim, 22-year-old Annisia Atkins of Cotton Plant, was also wounded in the shooting. She was taken by private vehicle to Forrest City Medical Center before being airlifted to Regional One Health in Memphis. She remains in critical condition.
Arkansas State Police Leading Investigation
The Arkansas State Police is leading the investigation at the request of the Woodruff County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities have not released any information about a possible suspect or what may have led to the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing.
