Steel Creek Campground in Ponca is gorgeous because it runs riverside along the Buffalo National River nestled between beautiful tall bluffs, gravel bars, and pristine pools of water. If you want to experience the wilderness and the beauty of nature just as the pioneers and native Indians lived long ago then Steel Creek Campground is for you.

The campground boasts 26 tent-only sites and 14 horse sites where campers can swim, fish, and paddle along the Buffalo River which twists and turns some 135 miles through the Arkansas valley. Reservations are on a first-come-first-serve basis.

When you camp here you will be greeted by the abundance of deer and elk that tend to graze in the open meadows near the campground.

Camping at Steel Creek is FREE from November through March 2024 and is located 3 miles east of Ponca, Arkansas, just off Hwy 74. The campground has flush restrooms and you have access to plenty of outdoor recreation such as horseback riding and paddling in some of the most amazing countryside you will ever see.
Note: All water will be shut down after November 14.

After March 15, camping sites are $20 per night and reservations are required for half of the campsites. Keep in mind there are no hookups for electricity at this campground site.
