Last Scoop Alert: Texarkana’s Blue Rooster Scoop Shoppe Closing

It was only 8 months ago that Blue Rooster Scoop Shoppe, a local ice cream parlor and Italian ice shop, opened at 1201 Arkansas Blvd in Texarkana, Arkansas.

The popular destination is closing on December 20, 2025. Local owners Jason and Joana Johnston posted their farewell message on their Facebook page on Monday, December 1.

"We’ve gone back and forth on how best to make this announcement."  "There is no perfect way to say it but Blue Rooster Scoop Shoppe is closing for the last time on December 20, 2025."

Jason and Joanna are very thankful for the progress, memories, and relationships they have built over the past 8 months. Their goals were simple: create a place where the local community could enjoy great treats and make lasting memories with their family and friends. They are very grateful to the Texarkana community for the love and support that they received in the last several months.

Reason Behind The Closing of Blue Rooster Scoop Shoppe

Selling was the last thing on our mind, but another couple offered to purchase all their equipment, but not the Blue Rooster name, logo, or special recipes. After careful consideration and thought. Jason and Joanna made a personal business decision to accept the offer, saying in no way this was a lack of sales or displeasure; it was strictly business.

For now, they plan to take some time for self-reflection and discovery mode with God until they can figure out what their next endeavor may be.
