Texas A&M University-Texarkana
A new $45 million Engineering Facility
Named after James C. Morriss
Texas A&M University-Texarkana recently announced the name of their new Business, Engineering, and Technology Building and the name of the Division of Engineering at a special press conference.
This new $45 million facility, currently under construction, is scheduled for completion in spring 2026. The three-story, 50,000-square-foot building will address the growing demand for business and technology-related degrees. It will house the Center for Financial Literacy and Investment, mechanical engineering and design labs, and a 225-seat lecture hall for large classes and events.
The building will be called the James C. Morriss Business, Engineering, and Technology Building in honor of JCM Industries founder James C. Morriss. A donation from Morriss’s daughter, Cynthia Goerke, made the naming possible. The new facility's Division of Engineering will also be named the James C. Morriss Division of Engineering, thanks to contributions from Jim and Cindy Morriss, the founder’s son and daughter-in-law.
James and Gladys Morriss Lauch JCM Industries in 1976
Back in 1976, James Morriss and his wife, Gladys, launched JCM Industries to bring his innovative pipeline product designs to market. With a focus on delivering quality products on time, JCM grew into a leading supplier for water and wastewater industries across the U.S.
Texas A&M University-Texarkana President Dr. Ross Alexander stated in a press release,
We are beyond proud to have this state-of-the-art academic facility named for Mr. Morriss and are profoundly grateful to his family for the contributions they have made to honor his legacy.
This new facility will serve as a hub for innovation and academic excellence, reflecting the legacy of James C. Morriss in engineering and business.
