It's the weekend! It's a special weekend too as Mother's Day is Sunday. There are a lot of great events going on this weekend in Texarkana and your mom will like them too.

1. Gateway Farmers Market  Opening Day -  located at 602 East Jefferson in Texarkana Arkansas will open Saturday (May 8) at 7AM and close at noon. Be sure to check out all the great produce including Greens, Kale, Onions and more. There will also be homemade crafts, soap, jellies and baked goods. Then it will be open every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 7AM to Noon.

2.  The Spring Car Show at the Four States Auto Museum at 217 Laurel Street in downtown Texarkana Saturday (May 8). You can still enter a car. It's $30 and registration is Saturday morning between 8AM-10AM. Over 100 cars are expected to be there. Awards will be presented at 3PM. There will be beautiful vehicles to check out, live music and more. Plus CHRISTUS St. Michael will be there with COVID vaccine shots available too!

3. Saturday night (May 8) It's a free Drive-in Movie experience at the Richmond Road Baptist Church parking lot located at 5805 Richmond Road in Texarkana. They will be showing the 2009 Disney/Pixar Movie 'Up' Starting around 7:30PM. There will be a concession stand with drinks, snacks, hot dogs, popcorn and candy available for purchase. The money raised from the snack stand sales will help support the RRBC Youth group.

4. Barksdale Air Show in Shreveport - Saturday and Sunday it's free but it's a drive-in tailgating format. You'll need to print out a ticket for your vehicle. More details here!

To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.
