The countdown to Halloween is on. So if you like being frightened by things that go bump in the night, there are some local haunts right here in Texarkana.Go back time when Texarkana was ruled by crime, gambling and prostitution on both side of this border town. Texarkana Ghost Tours, is a 90-minute guided tour that takes you down the streets and alleys of Texarkana where ghastly crimes and other heinous activity have occurred. Learn about the history of Texarkana and don't be surprised if you feel a touch or grab along the tour or even see a ghostly apparition in a window. Tours begin at the Lindsey Railroad Museum where doors open at 8PM. If you arrive early, you receive a free tour of the Lindsey Railroad Museum.
The walking tour starts at 9PM and every tour is different. Please call 430-342-9679 for tickets and you must be at least 10 years old, which is strictly enforced.
Over the years, I have heard of ghostly apparitions appearing in the old printing building downtown and of some eerie feelings you get when you walk through pocket park. What have you seen or heard?
Perot Theatre Ghost Tours
Another tour you should put on your list is the Ghost Tours at the Perot Theatre presented by the Texarkana Regional Arts & Humanities Council, TRAHC. Guides, storytellers and Perot Theatre staff will share with you stories and sightings of the past and present. You're invited to bring any personal paranormal equipment you may have. Be sure and bring a flashlight because this tour will be a walk through the dark inside the hallways, rooms, basement and other dwellings inside the Perot.
Cost to tour is $12 in advance or $15 at the door October 30-31. Click if you dare for times and more information.
