‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ TV Spot: Fear the Impending War
The latest TV spot for 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' cleanly lays out what's happened since the last film, while also sets up expectations for the war to come. And we're excited. This summer started out a little weak, but the movies keep getting better, and we're hoping that trend continues as we can't wait to see this sequel to 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' next month.
The film -- which stars Andy Serkis (who'll also be in 'Star Wars: Episode 7'), 'Terminator 5' star Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, future Dr. Doom Toby Kebbell and Keri Russell -- seems to be borrowing from the last two films in the original 'Planet of the Apes' series, in that there are elements of both 'Conquest of' and 'Battle for the Planet of the Apes' in the story, though it also stakes out new territory -- and not just because the original 'Apes' sequels were done with the lowest of budgets. The one thing we're worried about is Oldman's character, who wants his revenge. How the movie presents him and his desire for war could make or break the movie.
Here's the film's synopsis:
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
