Comet E3 to Pass Closest to Earth! When Will Texarkana See it?

Get ready because Comet E3 is about to zoom the closest to the earth in just a few weeks and it will be so close it's possible that you will be able to see this celestial piece of rock with the naked eye.

The comet known as C/2022 E3 (ZTF) was first spotted in March 2022 when it was in Jupiter's orbit by a camera in the Zwicky Transient Facility.

According to Edubirdie, it is still too dim and far away to see with a telescope. Comet E3 is made up of a composite of ice, rock, and cosmic dust and will make its closest approach to the Sun on January 12.

The comet is expected closest to be closest to Earth by February 1-2, so mark the dates because you will not be able to see it again for thousands of years. People living in the Northern Hemisphere will get their first glimpse while folks living in the Southern Hemisphere, including Texarkana, should be able to see it during those February dates. It's possible to see with the naked eye but can be best observed using binoculars or a telescope.

Comet E3 should be very visible with its bright green gaseous tail when it passes by Earth. The best place to observe the comet is away from bright lights, the darker the sky the better view you will get.
