Best Buy was the exclusive retailer of GUNS N' ROSES' "Chinese Democracy" when it came out in November of 2008... and that privilege did NOT come cheap.

Best Buy bought 1.6 million copies of the album for around $14 million.  But, the album bombed... and according to Nielsen Soundscan, it's only sold 614,000 copies in the U.S. so far.

It's unclear if Best Buy's massive, bulk purchase was a condition of the exclusivity deal... or if they just decided to stock up because they thought it would sell.  But either way, they still have a lot of discs to unload.

And that's exactly what they're trying to do.

Right now... (or at least as of late last night)... you could buy a "Chinese Democracy" album off BestBuy.com for $1.99.  The original price is listed as $13.99, so that's almost 90% off.
