Best Art Ever (This Week): Holiday Edition 2014
We make a regular practice at ComicsAlliance of spotlighting particular artists or specific bodies of work, as well as the special qualities of comic book storytelling, but because cartoonists, illustrators and their fans share countless numbers of great pinups, fan art and other illustrations on sites like Flickr, Tumblr, DeviantArt and seemingly infinite art blogs that we’ve created Best Art Ever (This Week), a weekly depository for just some of the pieces of especially compelling artwork that we come across in our regular travels across the Web. Some of it’s new, some of it’s old, some of it’s created by working professionals, some of it’s created by future stars, some of it’s created by talented fans, and some of it’s endearingly silly. All of it’s awesome.

Best Art Ever (This Week): Independence Day 2014 Edition
It’s Independence Day in the USA, and the ComicsAlliance staff has the day off. As such, here’s a special compilation of all the patriotic pin-ups and other pieces of art that we feel are distinctly American enough to spotlight on the fourth of July. Check out some excellent visions of your favorite superheroes in the red, white and blue (and sometimes yellow – somehow it works) and enjoy the holiday.
Fake Geek Guys: A Message to Men About Sexual Harassment
“I think this woman is wrong about something on the Internet. Clearly my best course of action is to threaten her with rape.”
That’s crazy talk, right? So why does it happen all the time?
Honest question, dudes.
That women are harassed online is not news. That women in comics and the broader fandom cultures are harassed online is not news. That these women are routinely transmitted anonymous messages describing graphic sexual violence perpetrated upon them for transgressions as grave as not liking a thing… that is actually news to me, and it’s probably news to a lot of you guys reading this.
So what can we do about it?
