A bevy of well-known rock musicians have lent their talents to a new album paying homage to the classic songs of the Steve Miller Band.  Due out on July 30, Fly Like an Eagle: An All-Star Tribute to Steve Miller Band boasts appearances by members of Yes, Asia, Deep Purple, The Zombies and many other veteran bands.

Among the interesting recordings included on the album are a version of “Jet Airliner” with Asia frontman John Wetton and Billy Idol guitarist Steve Stevens, a rendition of “Abracadabra” featuring John Parr and ex-Yes keyboardist Rick Wakeman and a version of “Jungle Love” that features former Rainbow singer Joe Lynn Turner and Deep Purple guitarist Steve Morse.  In addition, late founding Yes guitar player Peter Banks makes one of his final recorded appearances on a rendition of Miller’s “Winter Time.”

Fly Like a Eagle is the latest in a series of star-packed themed albums that have been produced by one-time Yes guitarist Billy Sherwood.  With regard to the new project, Sherwood says, “Steve Miller has written so many great songs, working on this record gave me a chance to look deeper into the inner workings of the material and explore it all with so many amazing guest artists. It was an honor producing and playing on this project.”
