This Friday is "Pink Out Day" in Texarkana. To highlight breast cancer awareness month please wear pink on Friday, October 9.

Komen Texarkana is hosting a city-wide "Pink Out Texarkana Day." Its goal is to join together as a city and support an organization that educates the Texarkana area and helps fund mammograms and treatment for breast cancer patients. The event is designed to highlight Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Everyone in schools, churches, hospitals, businesses -- all Texarkana residents are encouraged to wear pink on October 9. You can even enter your business in the Pink Out Contest. Post your pink pics on the Komen Texarkana Facebook page to win prizes.

Area schools are planning special events on their campuses to honor this event. Pep rallies and a balloon releases will signify the schools' support of "Pink Out Day" in Texarkana.

If you plan to have your own event to support survivors and patients, please contact the Komen Texarkana office 903-791-9585 to let them know.

The Komen Texarkana Race for the Cure is Saturday, October 17. Find out more on Facebook and on the Komen Texarkana website.

Wear pink this Friday to show your support.
