Public Information officer for Texarkana Texas, Lisa Thompson, issued a press release stating that trash pick-up rates for city residents will increase.

According the the press release, rates will increase by .33 cents per month.

The City of Texarkana, Texas received notification from Waste Management on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014 that waste pick-up rates for Texarkana, Texas will increase by 1.9 percent on Jan. 1, 2015. Adjusted rates are calculated based on the change in the Bureau of Labor Statistics consumer price index over the past 12 months as well as an adjustment for fuel costs.

 

The residential rate will go from $17.21 to $17.54, which amounts to a $0.33 increase.

 

According to Doug Sims, Public Sector Solutions manager for Waste Management, this adjustment automatically goes into effect on January 1, and does not require council approval. These terms are outlined in the solid waste removal contract between Waste Management and the City of Texarkana, Texas which expires Feb. 28, 2017.
