Texas Election Wrap-Up

Ted Cruz breezed to a run-off election victory over Texas Lt. Governor David Dewhurst.The former state solicitor general won an easy 57 to 43% victory over Dewhurst. Cruz will now take on Former Democratic State Senator Paul Sadler in the Fall General Election. The winner of that contest will take over the U.S. Senate seat of Kay Bailey Hutchison who is retiring at the end of this year.

Locally in Bowie County, Mark Hawkins defeated Bill Atchison in the Republican Runoff for a County Commissioner’s seat. Hawkins will face Democrat Sammy Stone in the November General Election.

Longtime County Commissioner Jack Stone is retiring at the end of 2012.
