Police report that at least one law enforcement officer and one civilian have been killed along with the gunman near the Texas A&M University’s campus.

The gunman was shot prior to being brought into custody on Monday, says Assistant Chief Scott McCollum. The officer killed was a constable with Brazos County.

A College Station police officer and another woman were also injured during the shooting, according to McCollum.

Jon Agnew, a spokesman for the Bryan Police, says officers have established a perimeter around the area east of campus, but a second suspect isn’t believed to be involved.

It hasn’t been determined if the shooter was a student at the university.

Students and faculty were made aware of the shooting via Code Maroon text messages.

College Station is approximately 90 miles northwest of Houston.

The Bryan police are assisting in the case.
