It's been a while since we've heard any rumblings about 'Star Wars: Episode 7,' likely because the film went/is still going through a page one rewrite, but if the film is going to make its December 18, 2015 release date, we're going to start hearing about who's getting cast shortly. The latest word is that 'Breaking Bad' star Jesse Plemons is being courted for a role.

This comes from The Wrap, who suggest they've confirmed with three sources that Plemons is a favorite of those auditioning, and that he's meeting with director J.J. Abrams next week. For those who don't know Jesse Plemons, he's appeared in two of the best TV shows of the last decade, having played the charming nerd footballer (who ended up with the hot cheerleader) Landry Clarke over five seasons of 'Friday Night Lights,' while he recently wrapped up playing the sociopathic Todd on 'Breaking Bad.' He's also appeared in such films as 'Observe and Report,' 'Battleship,' and 'The Master.'

Though he's often compared in his looks to Matt Damon, he's shown range that he can play a nice young gentleman, and a psycho, so it's hard to say what direction his character would go in the new 'Star Wars' film, but with his looks, it's possible he could be playing a child of the Skywalkers. 'Star Wars: Episode 7' is scheduled to be in theaters December 18, 2015, so we should hear if he gets the role shortly.
