By now, you definitely know that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the first of what Disney is calling the Star Wars “Anthology Films,” spun off from the main saga. But did you know Rogue One is not the first live-action Star Wars spinoff film? In the 1980s, Lucasfilm produced two TV movies based on Star WarsThe Ewok Adventure and Ewoks: The Battle for Endor. They never played theaters in the United States, but they did get theatrical releases overseas. That’s just one of the galactic facts featured in the newest episode of You Think You Know Movies!

So Rogue One is the first Star Wars spinoff to get a theatrical release in the U.S.; it’s also the first Star Wars movie that does not include the participation of Anthony Daniels, who plays the lovable droid C-3PO in each of the previous seven Star Wars movies. The droid in this movie is named K-2SO; he’s played by Alan Tudyk. You won’t see Tudyk onscreen, though; his movements were used as the basis for a digital character created with motion-capture technology.

‘You Think You Know Movies?’ is a ScreenCrush original series that dives deep into the cinematic worlds of your favorite movies and freeze frames a few tidbits you might not have known. We’ve already tackled Star Wars, The Avengers and Spider-Man, but this time we’re headed back to the galaxy far, far away for these Rogue One facts. Watch more installments of ‘You Think You Know Movies?’ below and let us know in the comments what movies we should cover next.
