New Songs, New, Album And Bruce Springsteen Is Extremely Excited About It.
Bruce Springsteen is still touring in support of his 2012 studio effort, Wrecking Ball, but the rock legend says he’s already amassed a lot of songs for a follow-up album. “I have stuff I’m working on that I’m very happy about,” He said “I hate to say, because I don’t like to be wrong, but I have a lot of material. I still feel like I’m in the middle of the well.”
The Boss also reported that while he and The E Street Band recently were touring Australia, they hit a studio in Sydney to do some recording. “We’ve never had a recording session during a tour in our lives,” he revealed. “We did a couple of things that I wanted to put down. So that was very exciting.”
Springsteen added that it was also exciting to have Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello participating in the session. Morello was on hand because he’d been filling in for The E Street Band’s Steven Van Zandt during the Australian outing.
Regarding his increased musical output during the last 10 years or so, Bruce credited producer Brendan O’Brien, who worked with him on 2002′s The Rising, 2007′s Magic and 2009′s Working on a Dream. Springsteen said O’Brien helped him better appreciate how he and The E Street Band sounded as a recording outfit, and inspired him to write more songs.
“This has been a great, tremendously rewarding period of our time together,” declared Springsteen. “This has been the best 10, 12 years we’ve ever had.”
The Boss didn’t offer any time frame for when the new album may be finished, noting that the work on the project is “ongoing.”
