After 18 Years, Jeff Daniels is hinting that a sequel to the 1994 comedy Dumb and Dumber may be in the works. The actor, who is currently enjoying success as the somewhat more cantankerous Will McAvoy in HBO’s The Newsroom, is talking about possibly reprising his role as Harry Dunne in the film comedy.

Daniels tells ABC News Radio, “Warner Brothers and New Line are very interested in doing it and I think it’s either going to happen or not happen in the next two weeks.”

Jim Carrey recently announced he was out of the sequel, blaming the studio for “dragging its feet,” but Daniels says shooting for the movie could start soon. “If we’re lucky, and I’d love to do it, we’ll do it in the fall, but we aren’t there yet – we all want to do it.” (AUDIO IS EXCLUSIVE)

Director Bobby Farrelly has told The Wrap shooting could start as soon as September, and says Jim Carrey “wants to do it.”
