Old Texarkana Video From The 1950s Saw Texarkana’s Potential
Texarkana is growing and has been for several years. It’s fun to see old videos of our town and see for ourselves how much things have changed. I found a great video that shows how times have changed.
This video was posted by Casey Roberts a few years ago. He wrote in the description that this was a promotional video from the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce from the mid-1950s in an effort to bring business to Texarkana.
It’s interesting to see in the opening credits all the businesses that are credited for making the video possible. Some of them still here, others unfortunately, are not. Some of the ones that stood out to me were: Buhrman-Pharr, Butter Nut Bread Company, Grim Hotel, Piggly Wiggly, Rehkopf Mattress Company, State National Bank and Twitty Nursery.
