In Charlie Strong's Monday press conference, he was asked about this year's Thanksgiving game against Texas Tech and how it would compare to playing Texas A&M. The Texas coach's answer has many Red Raiders fans angry.

"It's Texas Tech, but it's big for us," Strong said, adding: "Being on Thanksgiving, it has a little more meaning to it."

Strong was also very complimentary of Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes and him being a "3,000 yard passer." Well, besides being 1,000 yards under on his passing totals and calling Mahomes "Mahonies." You can watch around the 4:25 mark to hear this part.

Pronunciation problems aside, Strong did have high praise for the explosiveness of the Tech offense.

Texas Tech had its own trouble coming out a little flat last year. It seems like Strong feels like his team will come out flat because they are playing Texas Tech.

I understand the sentiment. I do. Texas is 49-15 in the all-time series and Tech has won in Austin since Spike and co. were running the show. I get all of that. I get that the play action pass has absolutely smoked us even when UT has been down for the last several years.

But being 4-6 and having the audacity to say 'it's only Texas Tech, but we will find a way to get excited about the game'? And 'at least it's on Thanksgiving'?

That's a bold move, Strong. We'll see how it works out for you.

Earlier in the press conference, Charlie expounds on playing Texas A&M again someday, but that "a lot of things would have to happen" for that game to find its way back on the schedule.
