$2000 Reward for Information in Shooting of Bald Eagle in South East Arkansas

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are offering a $2,000 reward for information in the shooting of an American Bald Eagle in Southeast Arkansas.

The mature Bald Eagle was shot to death in Pike County near Highland Arkansas and discovered near Highway 26.

Arkansas Game and Fish Commission officer Sgt. Chesley Sigman said in a press release,

Because the eagle was found along a highway, someone may have seen or heard something that will help in our investigation. We are hoping that anyone with information on who is responsible for shooting the eagle will step forward and provide information that will help us solve this case.”

Submitted by A.G.F.C

Bald Eagles are protected under the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Federal Wildlife Statutes.

Anyone with information concerning the shooting of the eagle is asked to call Sgt. Sigman at 501-622-9352 or call the Stop Poaching Hotline at 800-482-9262.

The identities of persons who provide information will be kept confidential.

(This is truly sad to me. More and more Eagles have been migrating to South East Arkansas for the winter, and are truly majestic to see. Eagles can live to around 25 years in the wild, and it takes around 5 years for an Eagle to mature, and they start breeding even later than that. Here’s the sad part, Bald Eagles mate for life… for life. We need to find this swine, and they need to take their punishment. Shameful.)
