Who’s Ready for Candy? Don’t Miss ‘Trunk or Treat at Spring Lake Park Saturday
The Texarkana Texas Parks and Recreation and Police Departments are sponsoring the 2nd Annual "Trunk or Treat" at Spring Lake Park event on October 31. So, let's load up the kiddos, put on those costumes and go get some candy from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. The event is free, and everyone is welcome.
Due to COVID concerns, it will be a drive-thru event. All traffic will enter the park using the north entrance at Mall Drive, that's the entrance next to the ball fields, drive around the block where the decorated vehicles will be parked to collect treats, and then exit back out that same way to Mall Drive. Everyone will be required to stay inside their car as they go through the event as no walk-up traffic can be accommodated.
Parks Director Robby Robertson said,
“After the incredible response that we had last year, we knew that we had to figure out a way to again offer a safe alternative to door-to-door trick or treating for the kids. We reimagined it as a drive thru event this year. It will look different, but it’s going to be every bit as much fun last year’s event was.”
According to the Press Release, there are currently 24 area organizations, churches, and businesses that have registered to decorate their vehicle and hand out treats to children. Additional spots are still available, and anyone interested in participating can contact the Parks Department at 903-798-3978 to sign up. The deadline for registering is 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
