A public memorial for Lou Reed has been scheduled for Thursday afternoon in New York City at the Paul Milstein Pool & Terrace located at Lincoln Center. The three-hour event, which will begin at 1 p.m. ET, will feature a variety of the influential rockers' recordings.
In the days following Lou Reed's death, seemingly everyone who's ever heard a Velvet Underground record paid tribute to the rock legend. But the band whose name shared the cover of Reed's final recording was noticeably absent.
There is now a confirmation of the cause of Lou Reed’s death. It has been revealed that the Velvet Underground and solo star died at his home on Long Island yesterday (Oct. 27) of an ailment that stemmed from his recent liver transplant.
Lou Reed made his first public appearance since his life-saving liver transplant last month, and the legendary artist was as cranky as ever. Appearing at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, Reed said he was shocked and disturbed by recent revelations regarding the NSA and spying, according to The Guardian.
Metallica and Lou Reed will be putting out an album together called "Lulu" on November 1st. (Most folks know Lou from "Walk on the Wild Side", where the colored girls go "Do Do Do Do", etc.)
