The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced the class of 2015

Lou Reed and Stevie Ray Vaughan are among the nominees announced for possible induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.

A public memorial for Lou Reed has been scheduled for Thursday afternoon in New York City at the Paul Milstein Pool & Terrace located at Lincoln Center.  The three-hour event, which will begin at 1 p.m. ET, will feature a variety of the influential rockers' recordings.

In the days following Lou Reed's death, seemingly everyone who's ever heard a Velvet Underground record paid tribute to the rock legend. But the band whose name shared the cover of Reed's final recording was noticeably absent.

There is now a confirmation of the cause of Lou Reed’s death. It has been revealed that the Velvet Underground and solo star died at his home on Long Island yesterday (Oct. 27) of an ailment that stemmed from his recent liver transplant.
