Comic book legend and Superhero creator Stan Lee passed away today, November 12, 2018, a sad day in the comic book and superhero movie world for sure. Several years ago my wife and I were at a Comic Convention in Dallas or San Antonio or somewhere... and I dang near accidentally took him out myself.   Longtime educator and former Director of Red River Vocational Technical School, J.W. Rowe has established the J.C. “Jake” Ruppert Endowed Scholarship in memory of his former friend and mentor. The donation includes $10,000 to endow the scholarship and $500 to purchase new hydraulic/pneumatic training equipment for the Industrial Maintenance program at the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana. Texas High School on Summerhill Rd will be hosting a 'College Night' for all area students and their parents and guardians this Monday, November 12 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. The event will be held inside the Dan Haskins Student Center at the corner of Summerhill Rd and West 40th right next to Texas High.

Registration for spring classes at the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana is open now through January 11, 2019. The college will hold extended hours registration on January 7 and 8 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Classes begin on Wednesday, January 9, 2019.

Texarkana College Trustees took formal action Monday to name Dr. Jason Smith as the ninth president of TC. Smith currently serves as superintendent of Pleasant Grove Independent School District in Texarkana, Texas.
