Police Arrest Suspect for Burglary of a Vehicle and Evading Arrest

Texarkana, Texas Police Department Officers arrested 52-year-old Stanley Brockman of Texarkana, Texas on charges of Burglary of a Vehicle and Evading Arrest.

Patrol officers D. E. Evans and Karey Parker were dispatched to a suspicious person call at 1:57AM on Oct. 24, 2015 in the 2100 block of West Seventh Street. The caller told the 9-1-1 dispatcher that they saw a male walking around inside the fenced area of a business at that location and heard what sounded like someone pounding on the building.

When officers arrived, they discovered a truck with a broken window inside the fenced area. They also observed Brockman allegedly sitting in the driver’s seat of the truck, leaning down toward the floorboard. When they shined their flashlights on the truck, Brockman reportedly exited the vehicle and immediately fled on foot away from the officers. After throwing a backpack over the chain link fence on the north side of the business, Brockman allegedly tried to climb the fence but was unsuccessful because Evans and Parker were waiting on him. He then ran to the east side of the lot and was apprehended as he again tried to climb over the fence to escape, according to police.

It was later discovered that, in addition to having broken the window on the truck, Brockman had allegedly smashed the padlock on a trailer parked near the truck to also gain entry to it.

Brockman was transported to the Bi-State Jail. His bond has been set at $10,000 for Burglary of a Vehicle and $5,000 for Evading Arrest. He remains incarcerated at this time.
