Miller County Deputies responded to a 911 disturbance call on MC 32.

The first deputy on scene, Investigator Thomas Whitt encountered a male later identified as 52 year old Martel McCreery of Miller County, kicking on the front door of a residence.

According to deputies, McCreery had apparently become enraged and had broken out multiple windows of the residence. The suspect then was said to have ignored Whitt’s lawful commands to step down off the front porch of the residence, and instead began throwing bricks at the Deputy.  At one point, McCreery allegedly pulled a knife and moved in an aggressive manner toward Investigator Whitt.

It was at that point that the deputy deployed two rounds from his issued JPX less lethal device striking McCreery. He was then able to disarm and subdue the suspect at that point and place him into custody without any additional use of force.

McCreery was transported by assisting Miller County Deputies to the Miller County Detention Center where he was booked on charges of Aggravated Assault on Investigator Whitt, and Criminal Mischief 1st Degree for the damage to the residence.

McCreery is currently being held in the Miller County Detention Center on a $50,000.00 bond.

The investigation into what caused this incident continues.
