Brookshire’s Wildlife Museum Finds A New Home In Tyler
East Texans like myself miss visiting the Brookshire's World Of Wildlife Museum & Country Store in Tyler.
This was a fun go-to place for my daughter and me when she was much younger. We enjoyed going through the museum and looking at and learning about all the animals from North America, Africa, and beyond.
Bears, deer, zebras, antelope, giraffes, and more were displayed in a collection by Brookshire's founder, Wood T. Brookshire. The museum delighted many East Texans who also enjoyed looking at the items in the old country store and going shopping in the gift shop.
The attraction was closed in 2017 after an ammonia leak from the adjacent Brookshire's warehouse. The building has sat there closed with the preserved animals inside ever since.

It was January 2024 when I noticed the animals that were outside standing guard over the building were being removed and taken away on a trailer.
I thought we'd never see them again, but thankfully, I was incorrect, and we will see them soon.
The Brookshire's World Of Wildlife will have a new home.
We learned that the new home of the museum will be opening during the summer of 2025.
Last weekend, participants in the Fresh 15 race received a flyer in their registration bag with news about the new location.
New Home of the Brookshire's World Of Wildlife Museum
The new location will be at 1670 Arbor Ridge Road in Tyler, adjacent to Fresh by Brookshire's on Old Jacksonville Hwy.
According to the flier, 'The Museum promises to wow visitors with its new exhibits, create a sense of anticipation and discovery, and make learning fun.'
Admission to the museum will remain free, but reservations will be required.
The new museum facility will also have a party venue for board meetings, adult gatherings, engagement parties, wedding showers, and more.
I am looking forward to the re-opening of this unique museum. While my daughter may be quite a bit older now, we just might take a stroll through it and relive some of our memories of when it was further down the road.
I'll be watching for how to make those reservations.
