
Plus-size Clothing Options Shrink As Texas Retailer Closes Stores
Before I lost nearly 60 pounds, I was pushing the bounds of "plus size." I can tell you from personal experience, finding cute, comfortable, and stylish clothes in a larger size is difficult, if not nearly impossible.

Part of the problem is that many retailers do not carry extended sizes, making trying things on impossible for many. Ordering online is always just an educated guess, but even more difficult when you're navigating your body's unique curves.
Plus-Size Women In Texas May Lose Retail Locations of Torrid
According to People, Torrid announced that it will be closing 180 of its brick-and-mortar retail locations. Since 55 locations exist in Texas, the odds are good that ladies of the Lone Star State will see some closures nearby.
The move comes after Torrid had a disappointing earnings report, with nearly a 5% drop in sales over last year. Torrid stated that the stores they are closing are "underperforming."

Lisa Harper, CEO of Torrid, said the company is responding to reduced sales by "accelerating" its transition to a digital business. In other words, going online. The place where you can try things on before you buy them.
We now plan to close up to 180 underperforming stores this year—allowing us to reduce fixed costs and reinvest in areas that drive long-term growth, including customer acquisition and omnichannel enhancements.
Which Texas Torrid Stores Are Closing?
The company has not yet disclosed which Torrid stores are getting the chop; however, it did state the 180 stores will close in 2025. Since the year is already halfway over, we will likely know sooner rather than later.
If you see some really outstanding clearance sales, you might want to buy, and try on, what you can as long as you can.
