📞What to do if you receive one of these seed packets
It's time to be observant and careful as it looks like people are receiving those mystery packages with seeds in the mail again. Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller put out a special warning to everyone in Texas to be extra careful if they get unexpected packages with unknown seeds or liquids.
Texas Department of Agriculture Warns Texans About Unsolicited Packages in Mail
The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) recently found out about a mystery package in Clute, TX, in the package were unidentified seeds and a liquid container, and it was randomly from China.
Commissioner Miller said in a press release,
Folks, please take this matter seriously. Receiving any unsolicited liquid or chemical at your doorstep poses a significant risk to the health of you and your family.
Packets Might Have Seeds of Invasive Plants to Harm Texas Agriculture
He stated that these seeds can not be in Texas and that they should not be planted. If these seeds are invasive plants they will harm the Texas agriculture industry. The TDA is working hard to find out what these seeds and liquids are to keep Texans safe.
The TDA immediately sent the package to the USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) for testing to figure out exactly what’s inside. They will share the findings as soon as they have it.

Since tariffs on China increased, the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) temporarily stopped accepting packages from China and Hong Kong but it has started back up again. This means people need to stay alert for any unexpected deliveries.
What to do if You Receive Packets of Seeds in The Mail
If you get a package from another country with seeds inside, do not open it. Leave it sealed in the original packaging and call the TDA right away at (800) TELL-TDA.
