Ignite Creativity: Young Writers’ Workshop Returns to A&M-Texarkana This Summer

Do you have a young writer in the family? Here is a great opportunity for you to encourage their talent. Texas A&M University-Texarkana has teamed up with the East Texas Writing Project for the 35th Annual Young Writers' Workshop this summer.

This is a week-long camp that will take place on the A&M-Texarkana campus from  Monday, July 7, through Friday, July 11. This will be a great workshop where kids and teens will have fun in a creative environment to hone their storytelling skills.

The workshop camp will run Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 12 PM inside the University Center building.  This event is open to kids entering grades 1 through 12. Texas law does require that all participants must be at least 6 years old by the start of the program.

Registration is $55 per student, with discounts available for siblings, and there is a limited number of scholarships to help with the cost for families who qualify.

The students will have the opportunity to explore writing in different genres like adventure, imagination and travel. At the end of the week, the young writers will be able to share their work with family and friends at a special celebration.

The workshop camp will be taught and directed by Dr. Bill Lancaster, the Instructor of Composition, along with other Texas A&M-Texarkana English professors and staff who are passionate about igniting creativity in young writers.
