Santas for Seniors: Give Texarkana 4-H a Hand in Spreading Holiday Cheer!
The Miller County 4-H’ers in Texarkana are offering you the opportunity to give a gift this holiday season with their Santas for Seniors program.
What is the Santas for Seniors Program?
Santas For Seniors Program allows youth and adults to visit their office and take a name tag from their Christmas tree. This program is similar to the Angel Tree, where name tags will have a name and a brief description of the gift list for each senior at a local Arkansas care facility.
After purchasing a gift for a designated senior, the gifts must be dropped off at the Miller County Extension office by no later than 4 PM on December 17. The gifts will then be delivered to the senior citizens by local 4-H youth on December 18. Please remember that gifts will need to be wrapped and be easy to unwrap.
Items Requested By Seniors Include the Following:
- Body Spray
- Chocolate Candies
- Socks
Many are requesting something sensible, practical, and inexpensive. According to the American Association of Post-Acute Care, many seniors at this time of year just want to talk about past Christmas traditions, have someone decorate their room, have a staff and resident celebration, or have children visit.

The 4-H program is designed to make residents feel special, a sense of hope, and worthiness. Having youth visit the care centers brings joy and uplifts their spirit during the holiday season.
