Hafertepe Battles Hahn, Covington for 67 Speedway Victory in Texarkana
If you love racing, then you know it was a great night at Texarkana 67 Speedway this past Saturday night.
It looks like it was a wild ride with Sam Hafertepe Jr. winning against his longtime rivals, Blake Hahn and Matt Covington.
Hafertepe is a five-time American Sprint Car Series champion, and on Saturday night, he earned his third win of the season and the 81st win of his career.
Hafertepe said in a press release from the American Sprint Car Series, about the night and also praised the Texarkana 67 Speedway racetrack,
We had probably one of the most exciting races I’ve ever been in in my life tonight. Just a testament to when these guys prep a racetrack as good as Tim Crawley did tonight, that’s the product you’ll get.
Hafertape stayed close as Hahn and Covington batted out front. Then, once Hafertape made his move, the three drivers traded off the top spots on almost every lap. This made sure everyone was on the edge of their seats as to who would win the race.
Hefertepe said,
(Hahn) did everything right, I just felt like we hit the clean air at the right time. Took me a minute to catch my breath after that one.
Hahn made one more push but it was too late and came in second place, and Covington, who set a new track record in qualifying, took home third place.

Brady Baker earned the Hard Charger honors when he went from 17th to seventh place. Heat wins were won by Jornon Mallett, Seth Bergman and Blake Hahn.
Congratulations to all the winners and Texarkana 67 Speedway for hosting such a great night of racing!
