Winter will make its first official appearance this weekend in Arkansas and North Texas. That Arctic Blast we've been hearing about that started in Canada will finally arrive in our area on Sunday bringing rain and a possible thunderstorm or two.

As the storms roll through, get ready for the temperatures to start dropping into the 20s and the northern portions of Arkansas down to the teens by Sunday night.

Northern Portions of Arkansas: Fayetteville, Mountain View, Jonesboro

Expect showers and maybe thunderstorms on Sunday with highs in the low 50s. Temperatures will drop to the upper teens to low 20s for an overnight low. Temperatures next week will have highs around 40 and overnight lows in the mid-teens.

Mid Portions of Arkansas: Fort Smith, Mena, Little Rock, Forrest City

Showers and thunderstorms are expected, with highs in the mid-50s. Temperatures should drop during the day, with an overnight low in the upper teens to low 20s. Next week's highs will be in the mid to upper 30s, with overnight lows in the upper teens.

Southern Portions of Arkansas: De Queen, Texarkana, El Dorado, McGehee

Temperatures in the 60s with showers and thunderstorms then temperatures dropping to the low to mid 20s for an overnight low Sunday. The rest of the week will experience highs near 40 and overnight lows in the low 20s

Fortunately, when the rain comes in it won't be cold enough to freeze and during these freezing temperatures next week, there is no perception expected in the forecast.
